Check out Dafnis Prieto, a great drummer and writer.
One of my heroes is the great Carl Allen a fiery and swinging master player and a committed educator and head of jazz studies at Julliard.

The Jazz Session, hosted by Jason Crane is an invaluable collection of interviews with great contemporary musicians. Available on iTunes.
Ali Berkok is a great Toronto piano player and composer, and if you need a chart done, he’s your guy.
Mulgrew Miller is one of my favourite musicians. I though the group with Woody Shaw was the greatest small groups.
A web site dedicated to the late great Woody Shaw.
A great Eric Dolphy web resource. Well documented with lots of sound files.
Detroit public radio WDET (101.9FM). Check out the Ed Love Jazz Show. You can listen on-line, too.
Greg Hutchinson, my favourite drummer. No one swings harder, and his sound is always terrific.
Roy Haynes. A true original and still going into his 80′s.
I got to meet Elvin Jones, just briefly. He was another complete original.
The association of improvising musicians toronto promoting improvised music.
